The Legends Of Music on Instagram: "Prince performing “I Wanna Be Your Lover” Live on the 11th of January, 1980 on The Midnight Special Based on the liner notes in the Prince compilation album The Hits / The B-Sides, this song was inspired by Patrice Rushen, an R&B musician who did some work programming synthesizers on Prince’s debut album For You. Apparently, Prince was smitten, but nothing came of it. The lyrics feature him being humble where he explains off the top that he’s not a rich man, b

Coffee Music Vibe on Instagram: "PRINCE – I Wanna Be Your Lover The Midnight Special, January 11, 1980 His first TV appearance. Purple lights, satin energy, and that unmistakable mix of funk, soul, and fire. Prince was just 21 — already producing, arranging, and playing almost every instrument himself. The world was about to meet the sound of pure confidence wrapped in rhythm. Every legend starts somewhere. This is how his story began."
