Spokane Fire Department's Water Rescue Team rescued a man from the Spokane River near the Sandifur Bridge this evening. Two men had been floating in tubes in the river when they were swept away in the strong current. One man made it to shore and called 911. The other had to be rescued from the trees by the department's jet boat. Neither were wearing life jackets. The Spokane Fire Department strongly encourages people on the river to use personal flotation devices and proper floatation equipment.
