The attorney general of Kentucky is the chief legal officer of the U.S. state of Kentucky, created by the Kentucky Constitution (Ky.Const. § 91). Under Kentucky law, they serve several roles, including the state's chief prosecutor (KRS 15.700), the state's chief law enforcement officer (KRS 15.700), and the state's chief law officer (KRS 15.020).

On November 7, 2023, Russell Coleman was elected the 52nd Attorney General of Kentucky, winning 117 out of 120 counties. Prior to that, Coleman spent most of the past two decades in public service.

Established by Section 91 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the Attorney General is a statewide elected official. The Attorney General is elected for a term of four years, must be thirty years of age and must have been a resident of Kentucky for two years.

Russell Coleman (born January 3, 1976) [1] is an American attorney and politician who is currently serving as the 52nd Attorney General of Kentucky. He previously served as United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky from 2017 to 2021.

LA GRANGE, Ky. (Jan. 1, 2024) – Russell Coleman was sworn-in as the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s 52nd Attorney General in a private ceremony just after midnight. He took the Oath in Commonwealth’s Attorney Courtney Baxter’s office in Oldham County, where he previously served as a prosecutor.
