Tarell McMillian, the man accused of shooting and killing Greensboro police officer Michael Horan, appeared in court for the first time Thursday morning. The proceedings lasted less than four minutes.

Greensboro police said Tarell Isaac McMillian was charged with first-degree murder for killing officer Michael Horan inside a Food Lion on Lawndale Drive.

She immediately recognized Tarell McMillian’s mugshot. Why? Because he was at the same Food Lion on Monday morning filling her Instacart order, she says.

The State Bureau of Investigation said that shortly after Horan arrived, he encountered 34-year-old Tarell Isaac McMillian, of Greensboro, and a brief struggle ensued.
