The Seattle Storm will unveil a statue of former franchise star Sue Bird on August 17, making the four-time champion the first player to be honored with their own statue by a WNBA franchise.

Bird spent her entire 21-year WNBA career with the Storm. She's not only recognized as a franchise icon, but as one of the best WNBA players of all-time. After retiring following the 2022 WNBA season, Bird was quickly inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as part of its 2025 class.

The Seattle Storm, and Climate Pledge Arena announced that a statue of WNBA legend Sue Bird will be unveiled outside the venue on August 17.
