NEW YORK (AP) — The man accused of burning a sleeping woman to death inside a New York City subway train is set to be arraigned Tuesday on murder and arson charges. Sebastian Zapeta, 33, will appear in Brooklyn court in connection with the killing of Debrina Kawam, 57.

A man is facing murder charges in New York City for allegedly setting a woman on fire inside a subway train and then watching her die after she was engulfed in flames.

Prosecutors say the 33-year-old lit the 57-year-old New Jersey native on fire on a stopped train at Brooklyn’s Coney Island station.

Police said Sebastian Zapeta ignited the woman’s clothing while she slept on the F train as it approached Brooklyn’s Stillwell Avenue station on Sunday

A grand jury last month indicted the subway arsonist on four counts of murder, including one count of murder in the first degree, three counts of murder in the second degree and arson in the first degree.
