Facebook announced on Tuesday that live videos will now only be stored on the social network for 30 days, after which they will be deleted.

Meta is changing how Live videos are stored on Facebook, marking a major shift in how the platform manages user-generated content. Starting Wednesday, new live broadcasts can be replayed, downloaded or shared from Facebook pages or profiles for only 30 days before they are removed.

Live videos currently older than 30 days will be removed from Facebook. Before your archival live videos are deleted, you will be notified by email and in the app, and from then you’ll have 90 days to download or transfer your content.

Meta announced some new policies for Facebook live broadcasts and it's going to lead to a lot of deleted videos. On Tuesday, the company announced in a blog post that all Facebook live broadcasts will only stay on Facebook Pages or profiles for 30 days,

Live videos used to be stored indefinitely, but Meta-owned Facebook says 'most live video views occur within the first few weeks of broadcasting.'

Facebook will start deleting users’ live broadcast recordings after 30 days starting on February 19th. Users who go live after that date must download the videos to save them from getting deleted before their 30-day expiration period ends.
