The father of a 4-year-old is being hailed as a hero for getting his child away from a cougar attack on a popular trail in Olympic National Park in Washington state.

A mountain lion bit a 4-year-old who was walking with their family over the weekend on a popular trail in Olympic National Park in Washington state, park officials said Monday.

Rangers searched for the cougar immediately after the attack and were later joined by a canine team, the National Park Service said in a statement.
