Universal Pictures announced Christopher Nolan's next film will be truly epic. He's bringing Homer to the big screen with his version of The Odyssey.

Nolan is also behind epic films including “Inception,” “The Dark Knight,” “Dunkirk” and his most recent film “Oppenheimer,” which scored big at last year’s Oscars when it took home the trophy for best picture. Nolan won that award as a producer, and also took home the Academy Award for best director.

Robert Pattinson is in the cast of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and his role is even more exciting after an update concerning a different film.

According to Production Weekly, filming for Christopher Nolan's ambitious adaptation of The Odyssey is officially starting this January. The production is expected to wrap by April, with the film slated for a theatrical release in July 2026.

In November, multiple outlets reported that Zendaya , Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Matt Damon will star in Nolan’s next work. The movie marks several on-screen reunions, including the one between real-life couple Zendaya and Holland, who starred in the Spider-Man movies together, most recently, Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.

Christopher Nolan's new film is 'The Odyssey,' an adaptation of the epic Homer poem for Universal, the studio has revealed.

“ Christopher Nolan ’s next film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX film technology,” said the studio. “The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.”
