The WBZ Weather Team is highlighting Tuesday as a NEXT Weather Alert day in Massachusetts. This alert is for a combination of heat and humidity as well as a threat for scattered storms fueled by the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal in the Boston area.

A heat advisory takes effect at 1 p.m. Tuesday across the Washington, D.C., region as hot and humid conditions push temperatures toward 95 degrees and heat index values climb as high as 105.

The Boston region is in for sweltering temperatures as this week kicks off before chances of rain and storms appear on and off as the days go on, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
