The Alameda County Board of Supervisors decided on who would be the county's next district attorney during a meeting Tuesday.

Alameda County leaders on Tuesday selected a new district attorney to replace Pamela Price, who was recalled by voters in November.

Ivey appointed Ashley W. Siebert as District Judge for the 28th Judicial Circuit in Baldwin County. Siebert, a graduate of Auburn University and the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in Montgomery, will replace retiring Baldwin County District Judge Michelle Thomason.

The former Alameda County prosecutor — and current judge — is expected to serve through 2026, when the seat again goes up for election.

While voters will not have a direct say in the selection of the new district attorney, a community forum provided an opportunity for residents to learn more about the candidates vying for the role.
