US President Donald Trump is expected to officially move on Monday to remove diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives from the defence department, one of several military-focused executive orders expected today. A second order will task US officials with formulating a policy on transgender troops.

While Trump criticized DEI in his first administration, his recent executive order targets for-profit and nonprofit government contractors, universities with large endowments, and foundations with assets north of $500 million.
