President Donald Trump's administration's funding freeze order was paused by a judge, and Gov. J.B. Pritzker blasted the executive order as "illegal."

The Trump administration retreated from its attempt to freeze trillions of dollars allocated by Congress, including grants, loans and financial assistance, after triggering a national uproar and a rap on the knuckles from a federal judge who partially blocked the potentially unconstitutional edict before it could take effect.

A federal judge signaled he will issue a temporary restraining order barring the Trump administration from freezing federal loans and grants.
