Ahead, her colleagues — attorney Ben Finley and water expert Bob Bowcock — stood at the muddy banks of the small waterway. Donning a pair of tight plastic gloves, Bowcock dipped a test kit into the foamy water and held it up to a gaggle of reporters. Finley and Brockovich stood at his side.

Forever chemicals, or “PFAS,” build up over time and cause cancer. Two town halls this weekend in Calhoun and Dalton, Georgia will give residents a chance to learn what they can do.
