Ubisoft Is Facing Lawsuit After The Crew Was Removed From Platforms
Ubisoft declared it shut down its servers after a decade due to "server infrastructure and licensing constraints." Both the 2018 sequel, simply titled The Crew 2, and the latest entry in the franchise, The Crew Motorfest, will remain unaffected after the servers go dark.
Ubisoft Sued After Shutting Down The Crew
Ubisoft is being sued by two gamers in California over its shutdown of open-world racing game The Crew in March. A class action lawsuit spotted by Polygon was filed November 4 by Matthew Cassell, who bought The Crew from a GameStop in early 2020, and Alan Liu, who also bought it from a GameStop but in November 2018.

In 2014, Ubisoft launched The Crew as an open-world, always-online racing game with a campaign and multiplayer mode. It was a fairly successful game for Ubisoft, spawning two sequels— The Crew 2 and Crew: Motorfest.
