AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is the first X3D CPU in the latest Ryzen 9000 series to break cover and will go on sale starting November 7.

AMD has dominated PC gaming CPU performance for more than two years. Its X3D chips have provided a boost that Intel has been unable to match, and its new $479 Ryzen 7 9800X3D goes a step further to not only improve gaming performance but also day-to-day tasks and creative workloads.

Y-cruncher is more indicative of well-threaded applications that love the trifecta of cores, threads, and high frequencies. Ryzen 7 7800X3D is almost 20% slower, while even Intel’s Core i9-14900K cannot beat out the latest single-CCD X3D part.

And so, the 6.9 GHz overclock that we saw yesterday from the Ryzen 7 9800X3D has now been surpassed by Taiwanese overclocker TSAIK using an MSI MEG X870E Godlike motherboard with a number 1 position on the HWBOT leaderboard for the chip's CPU frequency (via Videocardz).

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D was available to purchase for a short time, but it's already sold out at most online retailers.

As it turns out, AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a smash hit right out of the gate, and nearly every major US retailer that sells it — including Amazon, Newegg, Best Buy, and Micro Center — is out of stock one day after the CPU’s launch.
