Miles Wood has more history with Mackenzie Blackwood than any other member of the Colorado Avalanche. They were teammates for part of one season in the AHL and five years in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils. They’ve been two of the best golfers on every team they’ve played on.

Falling just short, 3-2 in overtime, to a strong Avalanche team Tuesday night at Ball Arena, the Rangers felt like they had the game in hand for 58 minutes before Colorado forced overtime with a late score in the third period and ultimately won on a goal from Devon Toews in the extra period.

The Rangers are starting to pick up points consistently again, building up their confidence and moving slowly up the standings.

His recent offense is nice but unlikely to last in the long run. He's at six goals, eight assists, 57 shots on net, 45 hits, 17 PIM and a minus-7 rating through 46 appearances this season.

O'Connor logged an assist, three shots on goal, four hits and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers. O'Connor has three points over his last three outings. The 28-year-old had the secondary assist on Devon Toews' game-winning tally in overtime.

Valeri Nichushkin appeared close to a possible return as he practiced with the team but he didn’t make it through the entire workout.
