Ahead of their NBA playoff round one rematch against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns may be without star forward Kevin Durant and rookie wing Ryan Dunn.

Golden State and Phoenix will square off in a matchup of Western Conference opponents. The teams square off Friday for the first time this season.

Kevin Durant is questionable to suit up for the Suns after landing on the injury report with a left thumb injury.

NBA rumors suggest the Suns are exploring a trade involving Jusuf Nurkic and a first-round pick to acquire a high-level rotation player.

The Clippers only lead Phoenix by 2.5 games for the sixth seed in the West - and a guaranteed spot in the playoffs. The Suns can officially clinch the head-to-head tiebreaker tonight as well after earning two victories against them on the road in the first two weeks of the season.

The Suns now hold a 24-21 record and sit eighth in the West standings. Of course, their star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal have been major parts of their recent turnaround but so has their addition of Nick Richards.

A 26-19 record places the Clippers in sixth place in the Western Conference, behind the Thunder, Rockets, Grizzlies, Nuggets, and Lakers. The Suns rank eighth in the conference with a 23-21 record, one spot behind the Timberwolves and two behind the Clippers.

But the Suns are only looking toward the bright side as they return home after their five-game road trip in which they went 3-2. The road swing ended on a 24-point win at Brooklyn, the Suns' second-largest margin of victory behind their 127-100 home rout of the Los Angeles Lakers on Nov. 26.
