Britain is set to be battered by winds of up to 90mph from Storm Eowyn as the Met Office warned of a danger to life in parts of the country over the next few days. Very strong winds are forecast to strike the north of England, south of Scotland and North Wales.
Most of the dangerous weather will take place on Friday, however there are five weather warnings in place on Saturday, 25 Jan, including amber and yellow wind warnings in Scotland, two yellow snow and ice warnings in Scotland and Northern Ireland, plus an ice warning in the south of England.

But as Storm Éowyn starts to sweep in from the west in the early hours of Friday, parts of Northern Ireland will see snowfall, especially Londonderry and Omagh. By 3am, the snow will reach parts of central and southern Scotland, moving north east through the country as the weather front continues to move.
The "once in a generation" storm has seen buildings damaged, trees felled, roads closed, drivers injured and schools and supermarkets closed.
There are still 50,000 homes without power due to chaos caused by Storm Éowyn. SP Energy Networks engineers have already returned supply for 89,000 homes but 57,000 are still cut off, and in some areas it could take days to be reconnected.
Supermarket giant Morrisons has issued a list of nearly 50 supermarkets which have been closed on Friday after the Met Office issued a red weather warning due to Storm Eowyn. Morrisons has announced that 49 of its stores will be closed in Scotland today because of the storm with no set time for their reopening.
