STATE COLLEGE – Northwestern did not play like a three-touchdown underdog in the Wildcats’ 22-21 upset win over Penn State on Saturday at Beaver Stadium. Northwestern opened the scoring with an early field goal and produced the game-winning touchdown at the end of an 11-play,
Penn State football lost its third straight game, a homecoming defeat to Northwestern. Fans chanted for coach James Franklin to be fired at the end.
For the third straight week, Penn State has lost as a favorite, now at the hands of the Northwestern Wildcats by a final score of 22-21 after blowing a fourth quarter lead.
With just over two minutes left in the game, Drew Allar went down with a leg injury that signaled the day was over for the Nittany Lions.

On Saturday, the Pittsburgh Steelers sent scouts to watch Penn State quarterback Drew Allar as he took on Northwestern. This was the third time the Steelers had scouted Allar, which confirms he was a top target for the Steelers in the 2026 NFL draft.
