For the first time, liquor stores in Colorado could stay open on Christmas. It's part of a new law that went into effect this year. In May, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill into law allowing liquor stores to stay open on the holiday. Until now, it was the only day of the year they were required to keep closed.

PALISADE, Colo. (KJCT) - Colorado liquor stores can now be open on Christmas Day. In May 2024, the Colorado General Assembly passed Senate Bill 24-231, which removed a prohibition law banning liquor stores from being open on the holiday.

FOX31's Gabrielle Franklin spoke with the owner of a liquor store as they experience the first Christmas Day being open after a new law was put into effect.

It could be a white Christmas after all in Colorado’s high country. A wide swath of the state from Telluride to Winter Park could receive between 1 and 4 inches of snow Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Vail, Aspen and Steamboat Spring could see between 1 and 2 inches, forecasters said.
