James "Jimmy" Donaldson, known as MrBeast on YouTube, made an offhand comment to X this week, saying he'd buy TikTok so it doesn't get banned.

MrBeast is part of a growing list of individuals and businesses that have expressed interesting in purchasing TikTok.

After revealing interest to buy TikTok, MrBeast says he has an offer to present to the company after meeting with a group of billionaires.

MrBeast is putting his name in the hat of billionaires fighting to buy TikTok before it’s U.S. death day. Just two days after he tweeted that he would buy the Chinese-owned company, the content-creator said that he had a meeting with billionaires looking to cut a check for platform.

It comes after Congress passed a law in April 2024 signed by President Joe Biden which gave ByteDance nine months to find a US-approved buyer. Congress described TikTok as “a national-security threat of immense depth and scale” amid concerns Amrican citizens’ data is being passed over to China.

As a result, President Joe Biden signed a law last year which demanded that ByteDance sell, or TikTok would be shut down in the US. The deadline to sell falls on 19 January - just one day before Donald Trump is set to be sworn in as the new president.

MrBeast has joined the list of people who are open to buying TikTok and the YouTuber says he’s working with billionaires to save the app.
