EDWARDSVILLE — An Alton man was charged last week after allegedly leading police on two 100-mile-per-hour chases this month. The 45-year-old suspect was charged Oct. 10 with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony, and two counts of aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, both Class 4 felonies.

A Massachusetts fugitive evaded local police during a car chase early Tuesday morning, but was captured by New Hampshire State Police after crashing his SUV hours later.

A car chase in the Athens area has ended in a crash at Interstate 77 exit 14. Few details are available, but Mercer County 911 Dispatch confirmed the crash happened after a chase. The West Virginia State Police is handling the incident, which happened around 2:30 p.m. and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute Wednesday night at the Heritage Village Apartments. An officer suffered minor injuries in the pursuit.
