The Minnesota Department of Transportation on Tuesday released the 50 finalists for this year's Name a Snowplow contest.

After receiving more than 7,300 creative names, MnDOT released their 50 finalist names to begin the voting round, from names like “Albert Icestein” and “Sub Zero Hero” to “Salt me Baby One More Time” and “Hot To Snow!

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has released the 50 finalists of its now-annual "Name a Snowplow" contest, even if snow has been mostly missing this winter. The public can now vote on their favorites between now and Friday, Feb. 7, with the eight most popular suggestions being announced in February.

Officials narrowed those submissions down to 50 finalists that the public can vote on now through Feb. 7 at noon.

Voting is open on the list of finalists for the 2024-25 Name a Snowplow contest, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced. This is MnDOT’s fifth snowplow-naming contest.

Minnesota residents have come up with some fantastic ideas for naming the states snowplows since the contest began. 2024-25 will be the fifth year for this snow-creative Minnesotan pastime. You can only vote once, but select up to eight names. Voting is open through noon on Friday, February 7.

Meyer says you can vote once for up to eight names through February 7th on the MnDOT website. The submissions include “Plowin’ In The Wind,” “Bob Chillin,”” Anthony Sledwards,” “SKOL Plow,” “Snowtorious B-I-G, ” and “We’re Off To See The Blizzard.”
