TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Leon County announces sandbag locations this week as officials monitor the tropical weather system in the Caribbean, according to a press release. In anticipation of potential heavy rainfall, Leon County will open five sandbag locations for residents.

As of Monday morning, the disturbance had maximum wind speeds of 30 mph and was located about 350 miles south-southeast of the western tip of Cuba and about 130 miles south-southwest of Grand Cayman. Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday declared a state of emergency for 41 counties, including Marion and Sumter in Central Florida.

In Dixie County, there is one location now open at the Dixie County Road Department/County Yard located along Southeast 309th Street in Cross City. There are 11 locations across Levy County that are opening up at noon Tuesday. There is a 10 bag limit at all sites, and they are self-serve. The list of these locations are below:
