Rebecca Kutler, a Philadelphia native serving as the network’s senior vice president of content strategy, will take over for Rashida Jones as MSNBC’s interim network president.

That creativity manifested itself at MSNBC, as Jones expanded “Morning Joe” by an hour and created a sort of “pop-up” program known internally as “The Avengers” that has Maddow lead a dais of MSNBC opinion hosts during moments of critical national news import.

Rashida Jones is stepping down as president of MSNBC, as the network prepares to be spun off from Comcast along with other cable channels. “After four incredible years at the helm of MSNBC and 11 years at NBCU,
