Brandon Nimmo hit a grand slam and matched a franchise record with nine RBIs, helping the New York Mets pound Washington Nationals 19-5 on Monday.

In the eighth inning, Nimmo added two more RBIs to his total, doubling in two runs to extend the Mets’ lead to 12-0. This brought his RBI total to nine on the day, tying the franchise record set by Carlos Delgado against the Yankees on June 27, 2008.

The Mets blew a seven-run lead yesterday losing to the Nationals, 8-7. Washington scored seven runs in the final three innings to gain the win.
