Starbucks workers' strike expands to over 300 stores

Just in time for the holidays, thousands of Starbucks baristas are expected to be back at work Wednesday after a five-day strike.

Starbucks Corporation (NASDAQ:SBUX) updated on the impact of a barista strike at select stores in the U.S. The coffee store chain said that over the course of the weekend and on Monday, approximately 60 stores in total were temporarily closed because of the actions called for by the Workers United union.

If a strike by Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) workers is supposed to get them better benefits and treatment, the store count affected by the union action is modest. About 300 of Starbucks’ 16,621 U.S.

A Starbucks barista strike is expanding to about 5,000 workers during the company’s busy holiday season. Workers walked off the job again on Tuesday and closed about 170 stores. Their union is calling for better benefits and immediate pay increases.
