"I am grateful for the information and for the necessary tone of the conversation with Russia," President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

John Ratcliffe travelled to the Russian capital on Tuesday in a rare and unannounced visit.

CIA director John Ratcliffe made a surprise, unannounced trip to Moscow on Tuesday, the first time America's spy chief has visited Russia since its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

John Ratcliffe flew to Moscow in a military cargo plane from Riga, Latvia. It is not clear whom he met or what the purpose of his trip was.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov says CIA Director John Ratcliffe did not meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was informed of the contacts that were "on the intelligence agencies’ level.”

Mystery swirled around a U.S. military transport aircraft that on Tuesday landed in Moscow, according to tracking data. It was not known who was on board the plane and why it was in Russia. When asked, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he did not have information about the aircraft.

President denies visit was to gain support for Iran sanctions or due to fears that Putin plans to ‘test Nato resolve’

But they say Moscow will likely continue its "hybrid activity" against Nato members, short of direct military action.
