Lawyers representing dozens of women who say they were raped and sexually abused by Mohamed Al Fayed, the former boss of the famous London department store Harrods, said the case was akin to the crimes of sex offenders Jimmy Savile,

Mohamed Al Fayed was a “monster” who was enabled by a system “facilitated” by Harrods, the lawyer representing his alleged victims has said. Al Fayed, the former owner of Harrods, has been accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women who worked at the London store. Al Fayed died in August last year.

The former Harrods owner, who died in 2023, has been compared to Jimmy Savile, Jeffrey Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.

Five women said Al Fayed, who died in 2023 at age 94, had raped them, while others detailed alarming accounts of sexual assault and harassment while they were working at Harrods.

The department store owners say they're appalled by the abuse allegations and "the Harrods of today is a very different organisation".
