Manchester City are far from their best but Liverpool still had a job to do at the Etihad, where they had not won in the league since 2015. With Arsenal losing at home against West Ham on Saturday, Liverpool had the chance to make their lead at the top of the table even more intimidating.

Mohamed Salah starred in Liverpool’s victory over defending champions City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, putting ‘The Reds’ in the lead with his 30th goal of the season before helping Dominik Szoboszlai double their lead shortly before half-time.

To say this season has been a disappointment for Manchester City would be an understatement. For Pep Guardiola’s side to be out of the Champions League and out of contention for the Premier League title before the end of February says it all.
