A hang-gliding pilot, a father and son and a former child actor are among those who have died due to the Los Angeles area wildfires that started Jan. 7 and continue to ravage the area. At least 24 people have died as a result of the fires spreading across the Los Angeles area and the death toll is expected to rise.

The resurgence of powerful winds across Southern California threatened to slow the containment of historically destructive wildfires that have so far left 24 people dead and thousands of homes destroyed.

The National Weather Service predicts "extremely dangerous fire weather conditions to develop across coastal southern California early this week"
