Kerala prepares to bid farewell to literary icon M.T. Vasudevan Nair, with tributes pouring in from prominent figures ahead of his funeral at 5 PM. State mourning declared in his honor.

Nair's extensive body of work during a career spanning seven decades included nine novels, 19 collections of short stories, six film directions, 54 screenplays, and several collections of essays and memoirs.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan described MT’s death as “an irreparable loss, both for Kerala in general and the Malayalam literary world in particular.” In a heartfelt tribute, he hailed MT as a literary and cultural colossus whose works, such as Randamoozham and Iruttinte Athmavu, elevated Malayalam storytelling to global recognition.
