NEW YORK – One day after being designated for assignment by the Yankees, veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu was officially released from the roster Thursday morning. That followed “a tough couple of days’’ said manager Aaron Boone of conversations with LeMahieu that included GM Brian Cashman about how the organization viewed its infield alignment.
It does not sound as if anything is necessarily imminent in terms of Jazz Chisholm Jr. moving back to second base and DJ LeMahieu shifting to third.
This article was originally published on fansided.com as Aaron Boone finally didn't use kid gloves to address Yankees headache. Better late than never, they say. Or at least that's what New York Yankees fans are shouting after manager Aaron Boone finally summoned the courage to bench veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu.
Moving Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base doesn’t just disrupt DJ LeMahieu’s playing time routine. It effectively makes him a bench bat and nothing more moving forward for the Yankees. Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed on Tuesday afternoon that there are no plans for LeMahieu to play third base.
Jazz Chisholm’s shift back to second base Tuesday night means a massively reduced role for DJ LeMahieu with the Yankees.
