IOWA CITY - Iowa's defensive line room has gotten another boost from the transfer portal. Former South Dakota State defensive lineman Bryce Hawthorne has committed to the Hawkeyes, he announced Saturday afternoon on social media.

Iowa football’s defensive line acquired new talent on Saturday. South Dakota State defensive tackle Bryce Hawthorne committed to the Hawkeyes after a stellar 2024 season with the Jackrabbits. Eliot Clough of Rivals was first to report the news.

After his efforts this season, Hawthorne was named to the FCS Freshman All-American team. He did not see much playing time right away with the Jackrabbits after redshirting during his first season in 2023 after three games, but he went on to play in every game this season and was a force on South Dakota's defensive line.
