Banksy's piranhas artwork will go on permanent public display next year at London Museum, when it opens its new premises in Smithfield next year. Featuring the fierce fish making an aquarium out of a police sentry box,

London Museum has acquired Banksy’s piranhas artwork for its new Smithfield location, opening in 2026, following a donation by the City Of London Corporation.

In August 2024 the biting satirist claimed responsibility for turning a 1990s police sentry box on Ludgate Hill into a vicious-looking aquarium, using translucent spray paint. It was part of a spate of critter-themed artworks that Banksy delighted London with, others including a gorilla at London Zoo and a pelican outside a Walthamstow chip shop.

London Museum has announced it has acquired Banksy’s piranhas artwork for display in its new location. The artwork, which saw fish painted on a police sentry box, made headlines last summer when it appeared as part of the street artist’s animal-themed collection in the capital,

Sharon Ament, the London Museum's director, said the "only thing better than having a Banksy appear on the walls… is having a Banksy on display inside."
