BAE Systems won a U.K. government contract worth $355.8 million to upgrade the threat detection systems on Royal Navy warships, less than a week after the U.K. said it tracked a Russian ship in British waters.

BAE Systems has won a £285m contract to upgrade the combat systems on Royal Navy vessels. The RECODE (Real-time Combat System Open Data Enablers) programme will help support more than 200 jobs, including at the defence giant’s site in Filton.

The contract builds on a 13-year partnership between BAE Systems and the Royal Navy. RECODE will sustain more than 200 highly skilled jobs at BAE Systems’ sites in Filton, Dorchester, New Malden, Frimley, and Portsmouth, while fostering investment in UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and tech suppliers.
